We believe in a balanced approach.
We actively try to reduce dependence on chemicals, and synthetic fertiliser and we believe that a balanced approach to their use results in better production, livestock and environmental outcomes on our land and surroundings.
Within our breeding we actively select for welfare traits, such as reduced dag and body wrinkle to decrease fly strike risk, and increased worm resistance within our ewes which results in less chemical drench interventions. This balanced approach we believe will allow our business to continue to thrive for generations to come.
Sustainability
Caring for our land
We are focused on operating and building a sustainable business. We are actively reducing our dependence on synthetic fertiliser via blended compost replacing part of our annual fertilising program to build our soil health. With the continued yearly establishment of shelter belts and plantations, we are committed to increasing bio diversity, with the synergies with our sheep flock for lambing shelter belts and reduced ground wind speed.
Development
Preparing for the future
Our farming practices are constantly evolving and we look to implement systems and equipment to make farming more enjoyable and less stressful on our livestock. We have designed our sheep yards to reduce labour requirements, and with significant investment in laneways for both time efficiency and low stress handling of our sheep. We also place a high importance on our improved perennial pastures as the engine room of our business, and we are constantly investing in improving our pastures, via improved grazing management and pasture replacement with higher performing varieties.
